indesign font and typeface

Typeface and Fonts.
A typeface is a piece of writing that is often used in logos, signs, and headers. Typefaces are more fancy and eye-catching than fonts. Fonts are used for writing and are easier to read than a typeface. Fonts are aesthetically easier to read because they are more simplistic designs.

colour harmony

Analogous
A base colour on the colour wheel in the middle of two colours around it. Creates low-contrast harmony

Monochromatic
Dark, medium and light contrast of a single base colour

The direct opposites on the colour wheel creates a diverse colour contrast

Complement/Analogous
This is similar to the Split Complement, it just adds in more colour.

 Split Complement
An asymmetrical colour split which creates a low contrast design

Recce blog

the photo below would not be a suitable location for a period piece because the electricity box is visible which would not be in keeping with the brief .There is a lot of shade because of the trees opposite the building and also the time of day would obstruct the light .

The photo would be inappropriate for this brief as the cars are not in keeping with the time period. But the light is good for a wide shot , where the sun is the camera man would cast shadows . With certain camera shots this would be eliminated.
this shot is also not suitable because it shows the cars , pedestrians , and an aerial in the distance which would be modern day .It is well lite in the for ground but badly lite in the background.

this would be unsuitable for the brief  becausethe cars and people with dogs in the distance.

mockumentary script

Triangles. They're everywhere aren't they. In our daily lives, in your house, in your chocolate, and even on your shoes. Today, we might have an answer to the triangle enigma.

We have tracked the IP address to this location. I think we might have found the...Illuminati headquarters.

Interviewer: Hello, we are from the official Illuminati confirming society. You are on live TV

Toby:What are you doing here, there's nothing here, we're just a college!

Interviewer: We've tracked your IP address!

Toby: Get out! Get out! Do you know what will happen if you publish this video? The world as we know it will disintegrate

Interviewer: But we're live on TV

three act structure

Alien
ACT ONE
The opening of Alien starts out with the crew of the Nostromo waking up from cryosleep then they
sit around eating their first meal , where they chat about how long they have been on the journey and their pay . This establishes the characters and encourages them the audience relate to them .

The first dilema is when one of the crew members gets attacked by a face hugger , then the crew takes the victim back to the space ship to remove it , this is an inciting incident , that is also a tipping point.

ACT TWO
The crew are socialising in a relaxed atmosphere ,when the same crew member who was earlier attacked by the face hugger chokes, they initially think he is choking on his food , he lays on the table and the alien bursts out of his chest .This is the second tipping point .After this scene the feel the crew feel misery and face defeat . They eventually try to blow up the ship and escape , but only one crew member survives

ACT THREE
The alien survives and climbs on the escape shuttle but the sole survivor of the ship depressurises the shuttle and the alien flys off into space . .

Monopoly diversification

Monopoly has had t change with the times and adjust itself to the demand and interest of the younger generation such as licensing Star Wars, Dr Who, etc for the board game. This licensing is good from a marketing point of view because if somebody likes a specific brand or franchise they are more likely to purchase the Monopoly board tied in with that franchise. They have had to move with the times by introducing items to the game such as the cash machine.

Inflation has also had an impact on Monopoly such as the modern version below that is in millions rather than hundreds.

mockumentary.

With the video below I want to use handheld camera which is a bit shaky and informal. The tone is upbeat and comedic, but not too over the top, more grounded. I want a similar tone for my mockumentary.

With the video below I want to adapt the idea of music overlapped with the mockumentary to set the scene. In the video below, they are setting the scene within an inner-city radio station, but in mine I intend to build tension.

my idea for this project is to do a 1 minute instagram comedy sketch. This will be portrayed as a mockumentary about the Illuminati. I plan to have a serious start to the film, portrayed as a normal documentary. The interviewer says he's got an exclusive interview with the illuminati boss.

The music will set the tone for the scene. The music for the cutaway shots will be more serious. As soon as they enter the interview the music stops suddenly - a record scratch sound effect will play.

storyboard

180 rule

i exported it in the wrong resolution , therefore the picture quality is awful .

The 180 degree rule is very important as it will confuse the audience and potentially ruin the scene. It will make the viewer think the actor has moved position.

work in progress

We started by listing all the jobs that are involved in producing a film .
Then we made a hierarchy triangle of the positions .
Which starts at the Executive producer who is responsible for obtaining the money .
The producer then employs the Director and then the director employs the managers , who in turn employ for different departments.
Each person has their own responsibilities that forms the finished product , ie the film

Board game

I created the board game player pieces on photoshop . I  simplified the original birds eye view of the XWings , YWing , and Darth Vaders Tie advance to make the pieces less complex and user friendly .

The XWings and YWings are colour coded which makes it easier and more visually striking for the players.

Adobe Animate

I like Flash animation and have previous experience, but it's good to practise and recap the way it works.

The downside ot Flash is that it's quite complex for simple tasks like making a character move across the screen, and if you mess up you have to start the project again.

Zero animation OUTSTANDING

the technical aspects of this animation were great, especially the bit when he's in the prison and the light shines through from the ceiling and it created a staggered light effect which must be difficult to animate as you not only have to consider the movement of the character but also the movement of the light.

Board Game production

  • The brief was to make an original board game or reworking . I have to consider the parameters , which were
  • Boards not to exceed paper size A3
  • Games not to harmful or hazardous
Analysis of brief

I intend to make the board game individually and I feel that this task is achievable. I'm aiming to make an original board game, but if this turns out to be too difficult due to time restrictions I will rework an already established board game.
My original idea is to do a Star Wars Trench Run board game, i felt that this was a good brand to do a game around as there are new films coming out and a lot of interest currently.
The game would be that you go around the board with the aim of destroying the Death Star. whilst avoiding Darth Vader . The board idea will be based upon the trench , that runs along the death star .
The game will be able to be played by a minimum of three people or more. It will appeal to teens , adults and families .Although i  think they would need to be a Star Wars fan to appreciate the concept .

Research statement
I'm going to research established games in toyshops to find existing Star Wars games, their names, what prices they are, and the age range. I'm also going to do a questionnaire to help me find the target audience, and the people who are interested in board games.  I drew upon my own experiences of board games  , to be honest with you i found them boring , i tried to devise a game that would interest Star Wars fans including myself.  I researched elements of Star Wars that i could build the game around i did this  through the internet and looking at scenes from the films .
With the finished product i would arrange  a focus group  which will help to show my ideas and receive feedback regarding the product and tweak it to see if it functions correctly. I am also going to do a post production questioner that will give me information that will help me to improve the product .

death star pic

death star wallpaper

my board game was based on Star Wars . The aim of the game is to get the players XWings and their bombs (YWings) to the end of the board which will blow up the death star whilst Darth Vader will be chasing down the players to stop them .

peer assessment

The board game i looked at was called Race to Space , based on snakes and ladders . They took the mechanics of snakes and ladders but changed the look of the board and the pieces .
It maintained the idea for the brief as it included traditional elements , the dice and pieces . It did not exceed A3 board size. The product identity was the space theme which was clear and had a well designed aesthetic . I like the fact that they incorporated the space theme with the black holes and that space rockets instead of the ladders and snakes. The black holes work within the context as  black holes transport you from one place to another . This particularly good because the black holes are designed like snakes.
It could be improved by adding a slight twist to the game which would make it more of a reworking opposed to a rebranding of the traditional game. An idea for a twist is that they could implement something that hinders their progress , but unlike snakes and black holes in this game it freezes you on the same square for a round , in line with the theme this would be that life support systems fail

The power of advertising OUTSTANDING

the power of advertising with one example, considering all factors

European/American stop motion animation culture OUTSTANDING

The Americans looked at stop-motion as a special effects medium such as King Kong (1933) - because King Kong had segments of real life acting and stop-motion integrated as if they were one. Film makers had to adapt their technology and think their way around the technology limitations, for example in modern cinema we have many more options to use CGI , but all they had back then was either live action or stop-motion or ways to adapt both. Modern day stop-motion animation is more mainstream as anyone can do it if they have a smartphone or camera, but in the 1930's it wasn't used as a shortcut or to save on the budget, it was a technique used to convey the film makers idea. Mickey Mouse was a cartoon that also used stop-motion, but it wasn't models, they drew frame by frame by hand to form a cartoon.

Europeans did a different approach, they more used animation as a form to convey stories, opposed to using it in live-action film. They used models instead of cartoons and drawings instead of blending it with live action.

Need examples of eastern european stop motion and videos.

Audio podcast script

this is my FMP from level 2. I edited a number of sounds and music to match with the onscreen actions. I sourced the audio from freesound.org. For example I had a streetfighter esq scene which I had to source a number of different impact sounds. The music in this scene is similar to retro 16 bit games which also represents what style I was going for with this scene.

I had trouble with the last scene because I had to reshoot the scene because the shot I was filming in had much too high background noise. I tried editing it on Audacity to minimise the music in the background and the ambient sounds but the result was unsuccessful because the shop keepers voice became distorted when I tried to reduce the background noise. I used music to set the scene which was not 8 bit music or videogame esq music to show the transition to the real world.

camera shot analysis

clip starts at 6.40

it starts of as a long shot this establishes the scene it starts of slow and builds throughout the clip
the low angle shot shows strength and power
This shows the importance of the bone to the ape and evolution
The low angle shot which is looking up at the ape indicates power and knowledge which represents the ape learning how to use bones for weapons.
a slightly looking down medium close up  shot. This also shows the importance of the bone and how useful it could be for the apes.
This shows the ape is more powerful when he use a tool . This is a close up which represents a position of power.

a low angle mid shot is used to

the sun set shows that the time has passed and closes the scene . This is a long shot
